Free Children's Summer Art Classes

Pre-Register is a must! Sponsored by the Quinnebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities and supported in part with a grant from the Southbridge Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Classes are held in the galleries. There will be two classes daily 9am-10:15am for young artists ages 6-8 (grades 1-3) and 10:30am-12pm for artists ages 9-11 (grades 4-6). Children will attend daily classes for 1 week during the month of July. An art show featuring artwork from all participants will be held in the galleries on Sunday, August 1, 2-4pm

Brookfield Historic Day

A special day to commemorate the history of the town of Brookfield will be held by the Brookfield Committee for the Quaboag Plantation 350th Anniversary on the Brookfield Town Common on Saturday, August 7, 2010. The day will begin with a talk by town historian Robert Wilder at 12 p.m. at the Brookfield Congregational Church. From 1 to 5 p.m. on the common there will be historic displays and booths, crafters, storytellers, and tours. From 1 to 5 p.m. at the firehouse there will be a historical map display, a photo contest display, and a scavenger hunt. There will be river tours at Whites Landing. At 6 p.m. there will be a ham and bean dinner followed by a presentation by Deborah Navas, author of Murdered by His Wife, about the Spooner murder.

Civil War Re-Enactment: The Battle of Brimfield

The Hunley is coming! See a reproduction of the world's first successful submarine, designed for use by the Confederacy during the Civil War. We’ve scheduled a CSI symposium where the scientists will demonstrate and explain their methods using weapons and some key body parts. Unfortunately, you never know who might be murdered in the midst of a forensic demonstration surrounded by police. Join us for a night of fun, and help us solve the crimes you witness. You may even be a deputized CSI agent by the end of the night.

Drover's Roast... A Feast Like No Other!
